The Irish Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (ISHAA) is a professional private-sector association of hearing aid audiologists working within the Republic of Ireland. It is a registered charity which encourages the development of Hearing Aid Audiology science and practice.
James Sharkey of Advance Hearing Aids is a previous President of the Irish Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists, elected in 2003.
Established in 1987, ISHAA represents about ninety hearing aid audiologists from more than forty private practices in the Republic of Ireland, currently with 102 qualified members. It is made up exclusively of qualified professionals in Audiology and Hearing Aid Audiology but is not directly involved in commercial concerns.
The ISHAA Council attends Treatments Benefit Scheme meetings with the Department of Social and Family Affairs (DSFA). Operated by the DSFA, the scheme provides hearing aids for private clients and their dependent spouses with full PRSI cover in the Republic of Ireland.
