Pairing up
Those who use two hearing aids, known as binaural users, experience many benefits. Improved balance is one. Greater understanding and a more rounded hearing experience are further advantages. If you’re considering the use of two hearing aids, we've put together five simple reasons that we hope might help.
One is less than half
While it is possible to hear with a single ear, it is obviously more effective with two. It’s like wearing half a pair of glasses to improve the sight in one eye, while the other struggles on without help.
Improved localisation
When using a single hearing aid it is still possible to feel thrown by a sound coming from an unknown direction. Using two can benefit the ability to locate the direction of the sound.
The bigger picture
The brain is actually responsible for our complete sense of hearing, rather than the ears which pick up the sound signals around us. With two functioning ears, two lots of signals go to the brain and make it easier to form one whole ‘sound picture’.
Relaxed less stressful hearing
Even with mild hearing loss the use of two hearing aids can bring noticeable improvements. The stress and frustration that can be experienced when straining to hear can be reduced effectively with binaural hearing aids.
Confidence
Balanced hearing on left and right will allow you to hold a clearer conversation wherever you may be, and give a fuller, richer hearing experience.
